Start with the workflows that currently create the most chasing and uncertainty. A platform that looks impressive in a demonstration but cannot reflect these daily processes will add another disconnected system.

Also examine the quality of the audit trail. You need more than a timestamp showing a task was edited. Look for clear ownership, version control, attached evidence, approval records and a history of actions. During an investigation or external audit, these details are the difference between saying a process exists and proving it was followed.

Implementation deserves equal attention. Clean asset data, agreed naming conventions and realistic task schedules are more valuable than importing every historic spreadsheet without review. Begin with the controls that carry the greatest risk, then build out the wider estate record. This creates early operational value and avoids overwhelming site teams.
