This guidance is for a school establishing a health-surveillance scheme. It describes usual practice rather than an absolute requirement.
Involve a competent occupational-health professional
When establishing the scheme, the school should normally set it up with input from a competent occupational-health professional.
The school should identify the occupational-health professional who will provide the input and record the basis on which that person is considered competent.
Obtain and record the professional input
The school should obtain and record the professional’s advice or input into the design of the health-surveillance scheme, including the arrangements proposed for [health surveillance scheme].
The recorded input should identify the resulting surveillance arrangements and the date on which the school incorporated the advice into [health surveillance scheme].
Apply the resulting arrangements
The school should incorporate the occupational-health professional’s advice into its health-surveillance arrangements where it decides to establish the scheme.
The school should keep the professional’s identity and competence basis, the advice or scheme-design input, and the resulting surveillance arrangements together with the scheme records.
