This guidance applies only where a school operates a health-surveillance scheme. Health surveillance should be used only for workers who need it.
What health surveillance is
Health surveillance is not the same as health monitoring, health promotion or health screening.
Reviewing health-surveillance outputs
Review health-surveillance outputs for feedback about actions that may be needed to prevent further harm and protect workers. Use that feedback to consider further preventive action relevant to the work-related health effects identified.
Raising concerns
Workers may raise concerns about how work affects their health through [health concern contact].
Reinforcing training and education
Use health-surveillance outputs as an opportunity to reinforce workers’ relevant training and education where this supports the prevention of further harm and the protection of workers.
