This guidance applies conditionally where the school's first-aid needs assessment identifies that a first-aid room is required. This will usually be where larger premises or higher hazards are present.
Provision and responsibility
Where a first-aid room is required, the school should provide a suitable room and designate a person to supervise it. The designated person is [designated person name].
Wherever possible, the room should be reserved exclusively for first-aid purposes.
Room size and physical conditions
The room should be large enough to hold an examination or medical couch.
The room should have washable surfaces and adequate heating, ventilation and lighting.
Ideally, the room should have a sink with hot and cold running water.
Access, cleanliness and availability
The room should be easily accessible and kept clean and tidy.
The room should be accessible and available for use at all times when employees are at work.
Location
