School Asbestos Services Procurement Guidance
- Version
- v1
- Updated
- 1 October 2026
Use this guidance when a maintained school, academy school or trust in England is procuring asbestos services.
Consider a DfE-approved framework
When procuring asbestos services, consider using a DfE-approved framework. The Find a Framework service can be used to identify available frameworks.
To search for asbestos services, select “Services”, then “Facilities Management and Estates”, and then either “Estate Management Professional Services” or “Total Facilities Management”.
Consider procurement support
If procurement support would be useful, consider contacting Get Help Buying for Schools. It is the Department for Education’s free and impartial procurement service for people who buy goods and services for schools or trusts.
The service offers different levels of support, including advice, guidance and signposting to DfE-approved frameworks. Select “I’m ready to buy now” to start the process.
Apply the guidance to the procurement decision
For the proposed asbestos services procurement, consider whether a DfE-approved framework is suitable and whether advice, guidance or signposting from Get Help Buying for Schools would be useful.
