Scope
This policy applies where the school takes photographs during lessons, events or activities, particularly where photography is planned across the academic year or where a further photographic opportunity arises later in the year.
Information at the start of the academic year
At the start of the academic year, the school should provide information about its arrangements for recording and using photographs.
The information should identify the relevant planned photographic events and explain how people can opt out of photography or withhold permission.
The information should be provided proactively and transparently so that people know what to expect and can make a choice about photography.
Further photographic opportunities
Where another photographic opportunity arises later in the academic year, the school should consider issuing a reminder about what is coming up and the available choice to opt out or withhold permission.
Any reminder should support clear and transparent communication about the later photographic opportunity.
