This policy applies where adopted by [school name], a maintained or academy primary or secondary school in England. It sets out the arrangements used to support pupils with allergies.
Purpose and scope
The school will use this policy to create and publish its allergy safety arrangements, put allergy safety training in place for all staff, identify pupils who require an Individual Healthcare Plan (IHP) to manage an allergy, produce those IHPs, and record and learn lessons from serious incidents and near misses.
Responsibilities
The governing body or proprietor will oversee the school’s allergy safety arrangements within the scope of this policy.
The school will identify the roles responsible for implementing this policy as follows: [allergy safety lead role].
Staff and other members of the school community should follow the allergy safety arrangements communicated by the school and raise relevant concerns through [allergy safety reporting route].
Prevention and response controls

Staff training

Individual Healthcare Plans
The school will identify children and young people who require Individual Healthcare Plans to manage their allergy and will produce an IHP for each pupil identified as requiring one.

Serious incidents and near misses
