Purpose and applicability
This plan applies to [site name] where fixed electrical wiring, external lighting and supplies, panels, distribution boards, lighting, sockets, air-conditioning or other fixed plant are present.
Its purpose is to support periodic inspection of applicable fixed electrical installations to check that they are safe.
Inspection basis
Periodic inspection is arranged by [responsible role] and carried out by a competent person. All electrical testing is conducted by a suitably qualified electrician.
The type and frequency of inspection are determined by a risk assessment of the particular installation and the prevailing conditions. The inspection frequency for [site name] is [inspection frequency], as determined by that risk assessment.
The risk assessment determines the inspection scope for the particular installation, taking account of its prevailing conditions.
High-risk locations
Where the risk assessment identifies swimming pools, hydrotherapy pools or other high-risk locations, fixed-wiring inspections may be required more frequently.
Defects and corrective work
Inspection reports record the condition of the inspected installation, identified defects and corrective work arising from those defects. Corrective work is arranged by [responsible role] with a suitably qualified electrician or other competent person, as appropriate to the work.
Responsibilities
[responsible role] ensures that the applicable installation is identified, that the risk assessment informs the inspection type and frequency, and that inspection reports, defect records and corrective-work records are maintained for the arrangements.
