Use this checklist where staff use portable electrical equipment, particularly equipment that is moved, handled or exposed to possible damage.

  8. Prevent use where a defect is found

If a defect was identified, stop using the equipment, prevent further use and follow the school’s process for reporting and making the equipment safe. Do not return it to use until the defect has been addressed.

  10. Consider whether further inspection is needed

A user check does not replace more formal visual inspection or testing where that is required. Consider the equipment type and the environment in which it is used, and refer the equipment for further inspection or testing where appropriate.
